I recently sat down with host Amir Ebrahimi on the Shoot Wisely podcast for a conversation about storytelling, intentionality, and my own meandering path into the creative world.

We talked about how my background in economics and years working as a commercial producer shaped the way I approach photography: the problem-solving, the logistics, and, above all, building trust with the people and environments I document.

The discussion touches on a bit of everything: from shooting motorsports and spending time in the ancient landscapes of Kenya to documenting the world of Los Angeles Harbor and my own community in my hometown of San Pedro. We also talked about the nuance of translating cinematic vision into print, honoring non-fiction subjects, and what it means choose one's subject matter with intention rather than just collecting imagery.

Whether you're interested in the craft of visual storytelling, the mechanics of commercial production, or documentary work, I think you'll enjoy listening to the conversation as much as I enjoyed talking with Amir.
